This is a fine pickle, and as sour as they come. In the process of helping our band of bumblers I have somehow alienated Captain Marcus Baerfaust. Lady Danzlyra is not going to be happy. She will be doubly unhappy when she hears that her bribe of “sample” cases of her wine to the Captain are now sitting at the bottom of the river where the burning ship sunk.
Now could it be that Mr. Stark’s ship was set ablaze because of any of Lady De’Fafnyr’s rumored contraband that travels hidden amongst her shipments of wine and silks? I highly doubt it. It would be stupid to taint wares that would be destined as a city captain’s (bribe) gift of good will. And Lady D is not a stupid woman.
So why WAS the ship set ablaze? Was something else on it that arson’s wanted destroyed? Was it not the contents of the ship that was the target, that instead it was meant to be the Stark’s murder?
Hopefully Lady D. did not sent word to G. VonAlptraum regarding similar sample cases of wine, because that’s at the bottom of the river as well. So far my mission on Lady D’s behalf is a complete fail.
Capt. Baerfaust suddenly acted like I had horse manure on my boots.
I cannot contact VonAlptraum empty handed with the wine in the river.
Do I dare make the third contact in the Temple of Verena or do I risk my person catching ablaze as well?
All this time following that little dwarf for Lady D and her desire to make amends, and this little mission of mine veiled behind the visit here to Peander (what a fortuitous letter of invitation that was, thanks old wizard) and I’m sitting here smelling of smoke and missing an eyebrow.
I… am… cranky.
The dwarf is growing on me though., maybe I can get him to scratch this pestering itch.
